At Seaview, we understand the importance of creating a true sense of home for our residents, which is why we offer a wide range of services across our four floors.

Our lower ground floor, Coral, is dedicated to providing a specialised dementia care service. On our ground floor, The Shores, we focus on nursing care, while our first floor, Seaview, is designed to support those living with dementia. Finally, on our top floor, Horizon, we provide compassionate care for those who may need extra support at the end of their journey. Our goal is to ensure that all of our residents feel supported and cared for throughout their time with us.

At Seaview Nursing Home we offer exceptional care for individuals with advanced and challenging dementia.

Seaview provides a safe and supportive environment for residents with complex care needs, including those with advanced stages of dementia.

Our trained and compassionate staff understands that caring for individuals with advanced dementia requires specialised knowledge, patience, and empathy. We offer personalised care plans that address the unique needs and challenges of each resident. Our team takes a person-centred approach to care, focusing on the individual’s strengths and abilities while providing the necessary support and assistance.

At Seaview we have a floor called Coral which is designed with the needs of individuals with advanced dementia in mind. We provide a homelike environment that is safe and secure, with easy-to-navigate spaces and calming surroundings. Our residents have access to sensory rooms, relaxation areas, and outdoor spaces that promote well-being and engagement.

Some of the ways in which we support people living with advanced dementia include:

  • Understanding the underlying causes of the behaviour: Staff in Seaview, Coral, work to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviour, which can include physical discomfort, changes in environment, emotional stress, or cognitive decline. By addressing these underlying causes, care staff can help prevent or reduce the behaviour.
  • Providing a calm and structured environment: Coral provides a safe and structured environment that is conducive to the resident’s well-being. This includes routines, a consistent care staff, and clear communication.
  • Using non-pharmacological interventions: Non-pharmacological interventions, such as music therapy, art therapy, and pet therapy, are used to help residents manageable behaviours that can be seen as challenging.
  • Administering medication: In some cases, medication may be prescribed to manage challenging behaviour. Staff work closely with residents and their families to determine the best medication regimen.
  • Providing specialised training: Staff receive specialised training in managing behaviours that could be seen as challenging. This training includes techniques for de-escalating situations, communication skills, and understanding the underlying causes of behaviour.

We recognise that caring for individuals with advanced dementia can be challenging and emotional for families. That is why we provide comprehensive support services for families and staff, including education, counselling, and respite care. Our team is always available to answer any questions or concerns and provide guidance and support.

At Seaview, we are committed to providing the highest quality of care for individuals with advanced and challenging dementia. We are dedicated to creating a home-like environment where residents can live with dignity, respect, and in comfort.
